Digital Image Archive (BARCHIV)
The Federal Archives store about 11 million pictures, aerial photographs and posters about German history. The first photographs date back to 1860. The focus of the tradition is on photographic documents on events and persons. Currently there is a representative cross-section of more than 100,000 images of the Federal Archives in this database (see statistics on the left).
Provenance Research on the Art Property of the Federal Government
The Federal Office of Administration (BVA) was assigned the administration of the art possession on 1 June 2017, which is part of the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF). The overwhelming majority of these works, some of which are extremely valuable in terms of art history, have been on permanent loan from the Federal Republic of Germany to 220 German museums since the mid-1960s. The BVA offers provenance documentation as an online database and further information on provenance research.
