The Federal Office of Administration (BVA) was assigned the administration of the art possession on 1 June 2017, which is part of the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF).
The overwhelming majority of these works, some of which are extremely valuable in terms of art history, have been on permanent loan from the Federal Republic of Germany to 220 German museums since the mid-1960s. The BVA offers provenance documentation as an online database and further information on provenance research. |
