Disclosure of information to private individuals
Private individuals can request information from the National Registry concerning named identifiable people. It is not possible to search for people, addresses and personal information on skatteetaten.no.
Order a birth certificate
Birth certificates contain information about a person's name, date of birth, personal ID number, gender, place of birth and possibly the names of the person's parents. As regards newborn babies, the Tax Administration will automatically send the birth certificate to the parents after the child's name has been registered.
Delete contact information
If you have your contact information deleted in the Contact and Reservation Register, you will be unable to receive SMS or e-mail messages containing useful civic information from public authorities, such as reminders telling you about your doctor appointments, changes to your water supply, or when your municipality plans to clear snow from your street, so you can move your car in time. If you want to opt out of digital communication and receive official documents and letters on paper, go to the page Opting out.
Update your contact information
Public authorities need your e-mail address and mobile phone number to contact you digitally. Register, review and edit your contact details in the national register for digital communication. Learn more about the register here.

If you intend to move within Norway, you must send a change of address notification to the National Registry (folkeregisteret) no later than eight days after you have moved. The National Registry is managed by the Norwegian Tax Administration.
Order PIN codes for logging in with MinID
If you do not have the PIN code letter from MinID you can order a new one. Anyone over the age of 13 with a valid national identity number or D number can order a PIN code letter. The PIN codes are only sent to the address you have registered in the National Registry (folkeregisteret). Normal delivery time for PIN codes is 1-5 working days.
New user of online public services
To log into online services from public authorities you need an electronic ID (eID). Over 3 million citizens have obtained an eID, and use it, among other things, to read, correct and file their tax returns online.
Opt out of digital communication
Public authorities are moving to communicate digitally with citizens. If you prefer to receive letters on paper, you must opt out of the digital communication scheme. If you have never used your mobile phone number or e-mail address to log into a service via ID-porten, there is no need to opt out.
ID-porten
ID-porten is a common log in solution to public services. If you want to have services carried out by central and local government online, you must have an electronic ID in order to be able to log yourself in. You can choose between five electronic ID alternatives when you want to log in to public services: MinID, BankID, Buypass, Commfides and BankID on mobile.

If you have previously opted out of receiving letters and documents from public authorities digitally, and now wish to change this, you can do so here.
