In accordance with SL 433.24, Control of the Red Palm Weevil Regulations, any person or entity, whether public or private that are registered with the Plant Protection Directorate, is required to obtain written authorisation from the Plant Protection Directorate in order to import or move planted palm trees from one location to another. The procedure will normally involve an inspection by a Plant Protection Officer prior to granting of permission for the movement of currently planted palm trees, to ensure freedom of infection by the Red Palm Weevil (Rynchophorus Ferrugineus). |
