"Public Wills A testamentary search may be ordered on any person (living or deceased) to find out whether that person registered a public will. The search will not reveal the contents of the will itself but simply a summary stating the date of the will and the Notary who published the same will. The contents of the will can only be seen by the person drawing up the will or by his/her heirs. Secret Wills This application may also be used to search for secret wills of deceased persons. Such wills are deposited in the Civil Court (Voluntary Jurisdiction Section). Applicant will be informed of the result of the search and if it is positive, an application may be filed in the Registry of the court by an advocate or notary for the publication of the secret will." |
