Electronic National Identity Card
Since 1 April 2008, the General Directorate of National Security has put into circulation a new, secure identity title which aims to protect the citizen against any possible falsification and usurpation of his identity. The National Electronic Identity Card (CNIE) is an official document that allows any citizen to justify his identity and his Moroccan nationality. It is compulsory at the age of 18 and has a validity period of 10 years.
