Anyone wanting to adopt a child from the Netherlands must fulfil a number of conditions. You must, for example, be at least 18 years older than the child you want to adopt.

Anyone wanting to adopt a child from another country must fulfil a number of conditions. To start the adoption procedure you also need a 'declaration of approval in principle'. This document shows that, in the opinion of the Dutch government, you are suitable to adopt a child from another country.

The She Decides initiative
It is every woman’s right to decide for herself whether she wants children and if so, when. She Decides is an international initiative set up to raise financial and political support for sexual and reproductive health worldwide. Donations benefit organisations that no longer receive US funding because they also give women information about and access to safe abortion. The affected organisations operate in developing countries, where they promote sexual and reproductive health and family planning.
She Decides conference
The She Decides conference took place in Brussels on 2 March 2017. Its aim was to raise funds and support for organisations that help women in developing countries with family planning. The US government has withdrawn its funding from these organisations because they also give women information about and access to safe abortion.
