Voting and Elections

Title	Description
Enrol to vote	You can’t vote in NZ elections unless you’re on the electoral roll. It's compulsory to be enrolled if you qualify — but voting is optional.
Register for the Māori electoral roll	If you’re of Māori descent, you can choose to be on the Māori Electoral Roll or the General Electoral Roll when you vote in general elections.
Voting in an election	Voting gives you a say on the people and political parties that will represent you in Parliament. NZ elections happen every 3 years.
