MIC Institute of Technology - Training Services
MIC Institute of Technology - Training Services. The Ministry of Education, Tertiary Division offers Training Programmes through the MIC Institute of Technology (MIC-IT). To prepare students for the world of work through the ‘Work and Learn’ model learning, which gives them the advantage of real, on-site job experience.
Retraining Programme
Unemployed persons can obtain training to increase their opportunities for employment or self-employment through the Retraining Programme. The Retraining Programme is made available through the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (TEST). Application forms can be picked up from the Ministry of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (TEST) office, which is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, except public holidays.
MuST - The Multi-Sector Skills Training Programme
MuST - The Multi-Sector Skills Training Programme. The Multi-Sector Skills Training Programme (MuST) provides training in construction and hospitality and tourism for eligible citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. Trainees will be integrated with either crews on a worksite or staff at hospitality and tourism establishments for four days per week to receive training that is hands-on and work based.

Craft Training Programme for Women
Craft Training Programme for Women. The Craft Training Programme for Women is designed to promote employment through training in various craft disciplines, as well as initiatives geared towards the revitalization of the handicraft industry of Trinidad and Tobago. The programme promotes the development of the craft, business and life skills necessary to facilitate the establishment of successful, home based craft businesses.
Obtaining Centre Approval from the National Training Agency
Institutions and organisations that intend to offer technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Trinidad and Tobago must obtain approval from the National Training Agency (NTA). Any institution or organisation that provides training in a TVET-related area at the pre-craft or craft level is eligible to apply for NTA Approval. At the conclusion of the centre approval visit, if the audit proves to be unsatisfactory, the Audit Team will provide recommendations for improvement and conduct a follow-up audit upon request within six months.
Non-Traditional Skills Training Programme for Women
Non-Traditional Skills Training Programme for Women. The Non-Traditional Skills Training Programme for Women is designed to provide specialised technical and vocational education and training to low-income and unskilled women in the following areas:. The programme provides a total of 320 hours of training on a six-month, part-time basis, and offers a stipend of TT$50.00 per day for three days per week over this period.
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition
Experienced workers with no formal educational or training qualifications in their field can obtain certification based on skills acquired on the job through the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Programme. The PLAR Programme is designed to accommodate the schedules of working adults and provides the formal certification that can be your key to better job opportunities, job reclassification or promotion. The PLAR Programme is provided by the National Training Agency (NTA), with support from the Ministry of Education (MOE).
OJT - The On-the-Job Training Programme
OJT - The On-the-Job Training Programme. As of May 31st, 2017, the OJTP became a Division of the Ministry of Labour and Small Enterprise Development. Submit the completed form and the job descriptions for the requested OJTs to the Placement and Marketing Officer II (PMO II) for the region.
