Benefit fraud
Benefit fraud costs the Northern Ireland taxpayer millions of pounds every year. If you think someone is committing benefit fraud, you can report them and stop them taking money from the people who need it most.
Benefits: report a change in your circumstances
To get the right amount of benefits, you need to report any changes to your circumstances. Your claim might be reduced or stopped if you don’t report a change straight away or you give incorrect information. If you deliberately don’t report changes, you’re committing benefit fraud.

Bereavement Support Payment
Bereavement Support Payment gives financial help to deal with the more immediate costs caused by the death of a spouse or civil partner. It is paid where the date of death was on or after 6 April 2017.
Funeral Payments
If you're on a low income and need help to pay for a funeral you're arranging, you may be able to get a Funeral Payment from the Social Fund. You might have to repay some or all of it from the deceased person’s estate.
Report a death to the Bereavement Service
To report the death of someone receiving Social Security benefits, contact the Bereavement Service.
Widowed Parent's Allowance
If you’re a parent whose husband, wife or civil partner died on or before 5 April 2017 and you have at least one child you receive Child Benefit for, you may be getting Widowed Parent's Allowance.
Attendance Allowance
Attendance Allowance is a tax-free benefit you may get if you are State Pension age or over and need help with personal care because you have a physical or mental disability.

Direct payments for carers
Direct payments are available from Health and Social Care Trusts for someone who is assessed as needing help from social services. You can usually receive a direct payment if you are a carer aged 16 or over.
Disability Living Allowance for adults
Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a tax-free benefit for people with disabilities who need help with mobility or care costs. Personal Independence Payment (PIP) has now replaced DLA for people between 16 and State Pension age.

Disabled Facilities Grants
A Disabled Facilities Grant is provided by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) to help to improve the home of a person with a disability, and may be based on the recommendation of an occupational therapist.
Disabled Person's Allowance
Where a property has been suitably adapted or has additional features to accommodate a disabled person's special needs, you might be entitled to 25 per cent discount in your rates.
Employment and Support Allowance
Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) offers support and financial help so you can do suitable work if you are able to. It gives you access to an Employment Service Adviser and services including employment, training and condition management support to help you manage your illness or disability at work.
Help with health costs
Most Health Service treatment is free, although there can be charges for some things. Depending on your circumstances, you might get help with the cost of some treatment, services and items. If you're on a low income, you may be able to get help with health service and travel costs.
Incapacity Benefit
If you couldn’t work because of illness or disability before 31 January 2011, you may be receiving Incapacity Benefit. People claiming after this date must apply for Employment and Support Allowance instead. Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit is Benefit is available to support people who are ill or disabled from an accident or disease caused by work or while they were on an approved employment training scheme or course.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a benefit replacing Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for people between 16 and State Pension age. PIP and DLA cannot be claimed at the same time.
